No salt no flavor

Since april of 2013, the Mexican government began a health coinsciusness campaign in Mexico City using the slogan “less salt, more health.” The main action being to remove salt shakers from restaurant tables. But how dare them if we love salt to taste! And even though this was years ago it has been appearing lately in different news outlets about the Ministry of Health auditing restaurants and sanctioning those that have the salt shakers on their tables.
Even though some criticized this actions taken by the government, this was a response to the recommendations of the World Health Organization regarding salt consumption. It is advised that we ingest a maximum of 5 grams of salt per day, yet in Mexico we double that quantity by eating an average of 11 grams per day.
Excessive consumption of table salt, sodium chloride, is harmful for our body because it can lead to chronic diseases like hypertension and kidney failure.
Even after all this risks, we have often experiences that a food without salt is simply flavorless. And this simple can’t happen, especially with Mexican food being declared a World Heritage by UNESCO. This is no little feat, besides its global recognition, in our culture, eating with friends and family delicious meal is a constantly practiced tradition. And due to all of this there is a simple solution.
