"Organic" salt?

March 10, 2015

The concept of something being organic, a word that comes from the Latin organÄcus, has multiple meanings. For example, in terms of an organic body it refers to the capability of having being alive. Another example is an organic compound, which means it has a stable structure with carbon.

Given that salt is a mineral and it does not contain carbon molecules, like those found in animals and plants, there is no authorized certification that validates that any salt can be labeled as organic. What institutions like CERTIMEX and Mayacert certificate is that a salt can be an organic input due to the fact that it does not undergo any chemical process and its production is 100% natural.
